Workshop Master’s and PhD Supervision Seminar, 17th/18th February 2022
17th/18th February 2022, 09.00-15.00
SR 109.11, Elisabethstrasse 41, first floor
The seminar focuses on supervision of Master’s students and PhD students. It addresses three key supervisory skills:
- Process skills: e.g., the ability to establish and maintain constructive work relationships with students, to align expectations early and regularly, to balance conflicting needs, and to plan and monitor progress
- Text-related skills: e.g., the ability to assess students’ academic texts and to provide formative feedback that is targeted, prioritised, criteria-based, specific, and instrutive.
- Communication skills: e.g., the ability to ask questions that promote students' independent thinking, to listen actively and attentively, and to meta-communicate the content and process of supervision.
Professor Gitte Wichmann-Hansen, internationally renowned expert in doctoral supervision from Aarhus University, will discuss approaches to make supervision even more efficient, constructive and target-oriented.
