Concepts of Europeanization

The Field of Excellence "Dimensions of Europeanization" discusses different perspectives on processes of "Europeanization" in past and present with its Scientific Advisory Board. This panel is focusing on the redefinition of the concept of Europeanization, in particular in Southeastern Europe, and on identifying the historically grounded cultural, economic and social processes that are described by it.

We will discuss social transformation processes in Southeastern Europe from a comparative perspective and explore changing discourses about the understanding, organization, and in particular the unification of the material and figurative territory referred to as “Europe” in time and space.

The internationally renowned researchers Helmut Halfmann, Herbert Küpper, Tanja Petrović, Inga Tomić-Koludrović and Milada Vachudova will get into an academic dialog with the present group of scholars of the field of excellence.
