Andreas Holzinger (Innsbruck): About 460 Million years ago green algae started to terrestrialize by leaving liquid fresh water bodies and thriving on land. While the streptophytic green algae gave rise to the development of all embryophytes as know today, but also chlorophytic lineages were successful on land and still are. The talk will focus on cellular-, transcriptional- and metabolic factors that allowed Streptophytes to conquer land.
