Many innovations are exclusively published in patent literature!

Therefore patent search is an essential tool for enhancing your knowledge in your specific field of science and may prevent from overlooking state of the art when planning your research or interpreting your research results.

This online workshop gives an introduction into the structure of patent documents and particularities of “patent language”. The content and coverage of free patent databases will be explained and different search techniques will be demonstrated (keyword search, classification search, using Boolean and Proximity Operators in espacenet, legal status information etc.). After this introduction the participants can check their skills with prepared examples in a hands-on search in espacenet.

When: 22. October 2020, 09:00 - 13:00, online

Workshop language: English or German (depending on participants)

Registration required at: gernot.faustmann(at)uni-graz.at

Number of participants: limited to 10 (there will be a waiting list; given sufficient interest additional workshops will be organized in the near future)
